This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Yola signed by Malam Abdulkadir Ibrahim, North East Zone Information Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).The statement also confirmed that members of the communities from four villages had abandoned their areas for fear of further attacks.
"The Isghe community, with a population of about 5,000 inhabitants, was attacked by gunmen on Saturday, the entire village was razed.
"The surrounding villages of Bitiku, Ghantsa, Kuda and Kaya have been abandoned by inhabitants for fear of further attacks.
"A total of 6,000 people, including women and children, who were displaced, are now taking refuge in Gulak and Shuwa, all in Madagali LGA," the statement further said.
The statement said the agency had conducted assessment and registration of the internally displaced persons.
It said relief materials would be distributed to them as from 21 February.
The statement said the Red Cross, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), NEMA officials and other security agencies would also monitor the distribution of the relief materials.
