The chairman of the party in the state, Chief Ugorji Ama-Oti, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki on Tuesday that the PDP was a disciplined party that would not descend to unleashing mayhem on another political party.
"We practise democracy the way it is supposed to be which gives individuals the freedom of association and interaction," he said.
"The PDP is in control of the electorate in the state and has no fear of power change to any political party, not even the APC.
"We are in total control of our members and 99 per cent of the electorate which makes us to desist from acts that will tarnish our image before the electorate.
"The APC has discovered that in spite of its registration antics, it cannot survive in Ebonyi which made it to resort to allegations of attack on its officers," he said.
He called on the police to thoroughly investigate the allegations so that the electorate would know the truth and not the lies currently being peddled.
"We also call on our members to remain law-abiding and work hard to ensure the success of the party in next year’s general elections," he said.
Amah-Oti was reacting to the allegation by the Ebonyi APC Interim Secretary, Chief Chaka Nweze, that some of its registration officials were attacked by thugs at Ezza North and Ohaozara local government areas.
Nweze had alleged that some PDP thugs attacked some of its officers at Ohaozara and carted off registration materials.
"After our national leader, Dr Ogbonnia Onu, registered in the area, the thugs attacked our officials. Leonard Akpa and Mr Eze Okoro and carted off the materials.
"The attack was carried out at Umunaga Ward, as our officers were also attacked at Umunnachi Ward, all in Ohaozara.
"When one of our stakeholders tried to retrieve the seized materials, he was attacked too," he said.
He noted that the party had petitioned the police on the development and was looking up to it for a thorough investigation and prosecution of the culprits.
When contacted, the public relations officer of the Ebonyi Police Command, Mr Chris Anyanwu, said it was yet to formally receive the complaint from the APC.
"When this is done, we will surely investigate it thoroughly as we are determined to make the Ebonyi political field conducive for all the parties," he said.
