Buhari can’t win election with cabals surrounding him says Gov Lamido

Jigawa State Governor of Sule Lamido has said that the cabals surrounding the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammad Buhari would not allow him win next month’s general elections in the country.

Lamido said that the ‘’cabals are capitalizing on Buhari’s so call popularity to seek elective positions,’’ saying, however, that ‘’Buhari cannot get the mandate of Nigerians’’ at the polls.

We’ll secure Nigeria against all threats, end impunity says Buhari

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari has pledged that his government would secure Nigeria against any manner of threats,if voted into office on February 14.

He also stated that the APC government would end all kinds of impunity by public officers in the country.

Buhari made the pledge while commissioning his campaign headquarters which also coincided with the inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council, PCC in Abuja yesterday.

Fire guts Balogun Market, sawmill, houses in Lagos

Tragedy struck in Lagos State on Sunday and Monday as multiple fire incidents occurred in different parts of the state, taking a life and destroying property.
 
The fire razed Balogun Market on the Lagos Island, Oko Baba Sawmill in Ebute Meta and four houses in the Igando area of the state.

150, not 2,000 died in Baga attacks says Military

The Defence authorities have faulted the claim that over 2,000 people were killed in the Boko Haram attack on Baga, the headquarters of the Multi-National Joint Task Force on January 3.

The Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, said this during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday. He said that 150 people including a large number of members of the Boko Haram sect were killed in the confrontation.

Jonathan, Obasanjo in peace meeting

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday hosted President Goodluck Jonathan   at his Hilltop   residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

It was gathered that the   meeting which started around 7pm and ended at about 9.15pm   centered on Jonathan’s re-election bid and the need to resolve the disagreement between the two.

Sources in the former President’s residence said the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye and the founder, Living Faith Ministry(Winners chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo, were also at the meeting.

APC national chairman Oyegun escapes as gunmen attacks his residence

Suspected gunmen on Sunday night invaded the Abuja residence of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Odigie-Oyegun.

The bandits, according to the Police, met Odigie-Oyegun’s wife at home and snatched N200,000 from her.

But the APC chairman,who was not at home as of the time of the attack, said the armed men did not touch anything , including wristwatches and iPad,  in his bedroom before leaving.

Lamido’s boycott of Jonathan’s campaign worries Presidency

Jonathan visits Obasanjo today

Barring any last minute change in plan, President Goodluck Jonathan will on Monday (today), visit former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his Abeokuta, Ogun State residence.

The meeting will come less than 48hours after Obasanjo made a surprise appearance at the wedding service of Jonathan’s foster daughter, Inebharapu, at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.

Obasanjo and Jonathan have not been seen together in public events lately, especially since the public presentation of his book, My Watch, which is critical of the President among others.

Suspected oil thief nabbed in Delta

Police detectives have arrested a 46-year-old suspected oil thief from Arhavwrien community in Delta State.

The suspect was arrested with the aid of youths of Oviri Olomu community, who took the detectives to the spot where crude oil was being refined by bunkerers.

Edo CP parades 40 suspected cultists

Following the killing no fewere than 15 persons in Edo State in the past two months in a suspected rivalry cult war, the Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr Folunso Adebanjo, weekend paraded 40 suspected cultists.

Female suicide bombers kill 39 in Potiskum, Maiduguri markets

Over 20 people were killed at Kasuwar Jagwal GSM market in the commercial capital of Potiskum, Yobe State, yesterday, when two female suicide bombers, one of them aged about 15, blew themselves up in the crowded market.

The blasts came just a day after a young girl thought to be aged about 10 killed 19 at a Chicken Market in Maiduguri, in the neighbouring Borno State.
