Shenu sani Speaks After begin Detained By EFCC

Shenu sani Speaks After begin Detained By EFCC

However, Sani in a statement last Thursday described his arrest and detention by the EFCC as unfair, unjust, prearranged and politically motivated.

The former lawmaker stated that the allegations against him was an attempt to dent his image as a result of his criticism of the current government.

The political activist denied talking to Sani Dauda about any form of bribe or gratification to be given to any judge or any EFCC official.

Responding in a statement on Friday, EFCC acting spokesman, Tony Orilade, insisted that the Sani has a case to answer.

He said: “Let it be stated clearly, that Senator Shehu Sani has questions to answer as regards the alleged involvement in name-dropping, and particularly that he obtained $25,000 from Alhaji Sani Dauda, the ASD Motors boss, in order to help shield him from investigations being carried out by the EFCC.”

In new developments, Suleiman Ahmed revealed that the former lawmaker was “forced to declare his assets”.

He wondered why the EFCC has not detained Sani’s accuser “who admitted to giving bribe” and why it has not invited “Alhaji Samaila Isa Funtua who was mentioned in the frame up against Shehu Sani?”

“Mr Orilade, what is the connection between allegations of extortion of $25,000 and then searching his residence, blocking his accounts and forcing him to declare his assets?” he asked the EFCC.

The other questions Sani’s aide posed to the EFCC in the statement are:

What can you say on the allegation that the accuser of Shehu Sani can neither read nor write; that it was the EFCC that guided him on what to say?

We have in (it) on record that Shehu Sani’s accuser has no pending case with the Supreme Court, how comes did he give (gave) Shehu Sani bribe to give the CJN?

We have it on record that Shehu Sani’s accuser has no pending or ongoing case with the EFCC, how comes did he give (gave) Shehu Sani bribe to give the EFCC or its chairman?

The CJN denied the bribe allegations and Shehu Sani denied the bribe allegations, where did Tony Orilade get his fact?

It is not enough posting statement about Shehu Sani. If you have any evidence or fact, why not post it now?

You said people defending Shehu Sani are doing it for pecuniary gain, are you defending EFCC for free?

Shehu Sani petitioner said $24,000 and you said $25,000, are you the one that added $1,000

Mr. Toni Orilade should stop lying and threatening people. If you have any cheque or draft or anything to show please do so.

Adeleke proves he had highest number of votes

Adeleke proves he had highest number of votes

Adeleke claimed he polled the highest number of votes in the election and asked the tribunal to cancel Oyetola's victory and declare him the winner of the election. The tribunal in its March 22 ruling declared Adeleke as the winner of the governorship election. The tribunal said Adeleke won the election at the first ballot on September 22 and the rerun that INEC devised to reach a final conclusion a week later was illegal. However, on May 9, the five-member panel of the appeal court upheld the victory of Oyetola as Osun state governor.

The panel led by Jummai Sankey delivered the judgement with three members of the panel agreeing with the lead judgement. Adeleke thereafter took the matter to the Supreme Court for final legal redress. As the apex prepares to give the final verdict today, Friday, July 5, the two parties expressed optimism, according to a report filed by Premium Times.

“We are highly hopeful. We believe in the rule of law. That is why we went to the tribunal to seek redress. We believe in the Supreme Court that is the highest body that looks at the point of law," the PDP chairman in the state, Soji Adagunodo said. “We believe that what we have presented to the Supreme Court, the result will be given to Senator Ademola Adeleke and the PDP. “Whatever, the court gives tomorrow is the final and becomes law for the future. The result will be favourable,” he said. Similarly, the publicity secretary for Osun APC, Kunle Oyatomi, was quoted as saying: “We are expecting victory tomorrow.

We have laid before the Supreme Court justices our very good case, well narrated and presented. It is a very simple thing. Elections held and INEC declared us winner. “Oyetola is in Abere doing his job and for all it takes, he will remain there by the grace of God.” “It is not only in Osun that we have this case of inconclusive election. So, to me and from the legal eye view, there is nothing to worry about,” he added. However, while the PDP chieftain promised that the party will concede defeat if it goes the other way round, the APC publicity secretary said the party is not planning for defeat.

The statement reads, “the President and his administration respect and uphold the right of every Nigerian to peaceful protest and civil campaign – whether to raise awareness on issues, and even oppose the government, noting that it is the inalienable right of all citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to do so.
“There is, however, a difference between peaceful call to protest and incitement for a revolution.
“The organisation championing this planned action is not fronted by any serious public faces. We call on the sponsors and organisers to have the decency to come forward and make their identity known – out of respect to all Nigerians – so that Nigerians can be fully aware in whose name this “revolution” is being proposed and who the beneficiaries may be.

“Less than six months ago, Nigeria held simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. Both contests were won resoundingly by President Muhammadu Buhari and his All-Progressives Congress party. The campaign was observed, and results were confirmed by international election monitoring groups and observers. The result was even contested by the losing presidential candidate and his party in Court.

“The ballot box is the only constitutional means of changing government and a president in Nigeria. The days of coups and revolutions are over.

“Those making the “revolution’’ call hide behind the veil of social media modernity. But without revealing the identity of their sponsors this shadowy campaign is no better, and no more democratic, than the days of old.”

The high commissioner said in a bid to ensure the safety of lives and property of the Nigerian traders, the commission swiftly contacted the Ghana Police Force to come to their rescue by mobilizing sufficient personnel to disarm the invading attackers as well as restoring peace and normalcy in the area.

Abikoye also sought the intervention of various Ghanaian establishments to ensure that the illegally locked shops were immediately opened.

He noted, however, that the shops were under lock and key as the situation was a bit tense.

The commissioner said though no live was lost during the incidence, seven arrests were made, four of who are Nigerians: Uche Onwurah, Chizoba Onwurah, Abuchi Kenneth, Onyekachi Iheoma and Darlington Logo, and three Ghanaians.

The statement read further that the District Police Commander, Nima Police Station, ACP Abraham Acquaye, had advised that the shops should remain locked for possible dialogue to take place.

In the aftermath of the attacks, an Executive member of GUTA, Mr Eric Gumfi, in a press statement on Monday, further threatened that GUTA would continue with the closure of all shops belonging to foreigners in ensuring the GIPC Act was enforced.

Meanwhile, there is ongoing dialogue between the High Commissioner and the Ghanaian Government functionaries on the best way to permanently put the situation under control.

Attack on Nigerian traders in Ghana, xenophobic – Reps

But the House of Representatives has condemned the attacks on Nigerian traders in Ghana, saying it is a transfer of aggression by Ghanaians over the closure of Nigeria’s land borders.

The House, at the plenary on Wednesday, urged the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission and the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs to investigate the attacks.

The House also mandated the Committees on Diaspora Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and Treaties, Protocols and Agreements to “consider and investigate the recent developments among traders in Ghana and ensure that another xenophobic attack on Nigerians is prevented.”

The move followed the unanimous adoption of a motion sponsored by the Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, titled ‘Recent attacks on Nigerian Traders in Circle Market, Ghana.’

Moving the motion, Akande-Sadipe recalled that on Sunday, over 600 shops belonging to foreign traders, particularly Nigerians, at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Ghana, were locked up by members of GUTA.

The lawmaker said, “The House is concerned that the recent attack on Nigerian traders would become another xenophobic attack with loss of lives, as GUTA have decided to take laws into their own hands because, according to them, the government had failed to enforce the GIPC Law 865 Articles 27 and 28, which bars foreigners from doing retail business in Ghana.”

Several lawmakers who seconded the motion warned against another xenophobic attack on Nigerians in Ghana as being experienced in South Africa.Q

President Buhari gives strategy resolve Insecurity Click HERE for MORE

The president reiterated the greatness of Nigeria in the comity of nations and the need for every citizen to work towards reclaiming the glory.

“Our country Nigeria is a great country. According to United Nations estimates, our population will rise to 411 million by 2050, making us the third most populous nation on earth behind only China and India.

“We have water, arable land, forests, oil and gas and vast quantities of solid minerals. We are blessed with an equable climate.

“However, the bulk of our real wealth lies in Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry and Mining. We possess all the ingredients of a major economic power on the world stage.

“What we require is the will to get our acts together. And our strength is in our people – our youth, our culture, our resilience, our ability to succeed despite the odds.

“A huge responsibility therefore rests on this and succeeding Administrations to develop, harness and fulfil our enormous potentials into a force to be reckoned with globally,” the president said.

On the nation’s military strength, the president said Nigeria had contributed to UN peace-keeping responsibilities all over the world.

He said that Nigeria helped to stabilise Liberia, Sierran Leone, Ivory Coast and recently prevented the Gambia from degenerating into anarchy.

“Without Nigerian influence and resources, the liberation of Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe and ultimately South Africa would have come at greater cost.

“This fact has been attested to  by none other than the late Nelson Mandela himself.

“Elsewhere, Nigeria is the Big Brother to our neighbours. We are the shock-absorber of the West African sub-region, the bulwark of ECOWAS and Lake Chad Basin Commission.

“We can therefore be proud to be Nigerians. We must continue to be Good Neighbours and Good Global Citizens,’’ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the the event was attended by some African leaders.
