Capital One Cup final against Sunderland will make a lot of impact for the season - Nasri

Africtv - Mail Sports... Report
  • Samir Nasri believes Manchester City's Capital One Cup final against Sunderland could have a big impact on how the rest of their season turns out.
  • The Citizens already have the first available piece of silverware this term in sight as they prepare to face the Black Cats at Wembley on Sunday.
Manuel Pellegrini's men are heavy favourites to lift the trophy as they take on a Wearside team floundering in the Premier League relegation zone, although Nasri remembers a similar situation with Arsenal when they lost the League Cup final to Birmingham in 2011, eventually going on to concede their lead in the top-flight to lose out on the title.

"I have the experience of losing the Carling Cup with Arsenal," said Nasri.

"After that we only won two games in the league, so a win would be really important for us and the confidence.

"I don't have good memories (of Wembley) with clubs. I have lost a final there with Arsenal and with Manchester City, but I won there with the national team against England.

"I hope it is going to be the same kind of game."
