THE National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has summoned the Ondo State Working Committee and leaders of the party in the state to a meeting in Abuja over the furore the defection of Governor Olusegun Mimiko is generating.
Governor Mimiko also left Akure for Abuja yesterday to attend the meeting to be chaired by the Senate President David Mark, supported by some members of the National Working Committee of the party.
Ondo State chapter of the party had lashed out at the national secretariat over the manner it handled the defection, saying it was done “with disrespect to the state party executive.
A statement by the state Director of Publicity Ayo Fadaka said: “We feel total discomfort and displeasure with the manner his carpet crossing was managed by selected leaders of the party at the national level.”
Afric Tv gathered in Akure that the state Working Committee of the party, led by the Chairman Mr. Ebenezer Alabi, left for Abuja to attend the meeting summoned by the national leaders.
Other leaders expected to attend the meeting include Dr Bode Olajumoke, Kingsley Kuku, Olusola Oke, Victor Olabimtan, Gbenga Elegbeleye, Professor Olu Agbi among others, across the three senatorial areas in the state.
