The Bauchi State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, yesterday said it has arrested 100 suspects over alleged vandalism of government facilities.
The suspects allegedly vandalised government facilities, ranging from telecommunication cables, electric cables and transformers as well as other public utilities in the state.
State commandant of the corps, Mr. Jibril Shuab made this known while announcing plans to ensure peaceful celebration of the forth coming Eid-el-kabir by Muslims across the state.
He lamented that youths who should rather be concerned about the safety of public property in their vicinities preferred to vandalise them, thereby sabotaging the country’s economy.
He however, warned electrical and communication contractors as well as vendors in the state to desist from buying vandalised cables, as according to him, anybody arrested for such crimes would soon be charged to court.
According to him, the command would deploy large number of its intelligent officers at all the nooks and crannies of the state including praying grounds to prevent breach of peace.
Shuab then expressed appreciation to the state government for allocating a befitting office accommodation to the corps just as he assured of his commitment to rid the state of criminals.
The commandant also, called on the people of the state to support the corps with useful information on the hideout of criminals in their midst.
