According to Naija news Reports, The Supreme Court has Allegedly accused President Muhammadu Buhari of using taxpayers money for matters that her private that doesn't relate to government.
Naija News reports that the Apex court had on Monday dismissed a suit filed over the academic qualification of Buhari by Kalu Kalu Agu, Labaran Ismail, Hassy Jyari El-Kunis.
They accused Buhari of lying under oath in a form he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2019 election.
A five-man panel of judges of the Supreme Court led by Mary Odili accused Buhari of using Abdullahi Abubakar, a senior counsel at the ministry of justice, for his private matter.
Justice Odili asked Abdullahi Abubakar if the president was sued as a private citizen or as president.
Buhari’s counsel said the president was being sued as a private citizen.
“Mr Buhari was sued as a private citizen,” Abubakar said.
Responding Odili said: “It is inappropriate, the representation of Mr Buhari by the senior state counsel of the ministry of justice in his personal capacity and not as Nigerian president.”
She recalled that former United States President Bill Clinton sponsored his own litigation personally, without involving the ministry of justice.
The Supreme Court berated the president for using taxpayers money to work on private litigation.
The panel described it as a contravention of the provisions of the code of conduct for public officers.
