After earlier postponement, the PDP governorship primaries in Kwara State was held on Thursday, 11 December, 2014 and the results of the exercise have been announced.
According to the results announced in the wee hours of Friday, 12 December, 2014, by the panel Chairman, Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State, the Senator representing Kwara South
in the National Assembly, Sen. Simeon Sule Ajibola was declared as the state’s governorship candidate of the PDP for the 2015 general election.
The primaries which took place at the Arca Santa Events Centre along Ajasse-Ipo road in Ilorin witnessed the presence of fully armed security operatives.
It was gathered that the exercise was initially scheduled to hold on Monday, 8 December, 2014 but due to violence that erupted prior to the election, it was postponed.
It was gathered that Ajibola polled 144 votes to defeat other aspirants like Dele Belgore (SAN) who emerged the runner up with 130 votes.
Other results as announced by Governor Suswam were Senator Gbemisola Rukayyat Saraki (113), Senator Mokanjuola Ajadi (107), Professor Oba Abdulraheem (58), Hon. Bio Ibrahim (45), Engineer Jani Ibrahim (27), Alhaji Hakeem Lawal (13), Deacon John Dara (four), Sunday Babalola (three) and Kale Belgore (one) while Sanusi Abdullahi got no vote.

It would be recalled that after the postponement of the primaries, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Kwara State, Dr Rex Olawoye, had said the postponed primaries did not cause division in the party
According to Olawoye, the postponement of the exercise made them even stronger and better.
Also, a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Darius Ishaku, Thursday night emerged the winner of the Taraba State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the governorship primary election held at the party national headquarters in Abuja.
It was gathered that Ishaku polled 170 votes to become winner.
Prior to the primaries, it was reported that the former acting governor of the state, Garba Umar, had stepped down.
Musa John, also stepped down.
Umar later clinched the party’s senatorial ticket for the state northern senatorial district.
Ishaku, who is largely seen as a consensus candidate is from Takum Local Government Area of the state, has been an advocate of power to the southern senatorial district.
