Channels Television reports that the ASUU chairman at the University of Lagos Chapter Dr Karo Ogbinaka said that the union decided to suspend the strike after a meeting held in Minna, the Niger State capital, on Monday.According to the report, a congress meeting will be held on Wednesday to bring ASUU's members up to speed with the latest developments.
“We expect the students to resume and expect their members to go back to class immediately after the congress meeting and we expect the government to keep to the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU),” Dr Ogninaka told Channels Television.
The Daily Times reports that the presidency have been informed and are looking forward to schools re-opening next year.
"Since Christmas is already on the way, we believe most schools may wait till January before resuming."
ASUU and the federal government will meet again in 2014 to resolve the last remaining issues.
