IPOB: Kanu’s Lawyer Sends Strong Warnings to Southeast Governors
According to Naija News reports, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, The counsel to Nnamdi Kanu the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has says any Southeast governor who supports the proscription of the group “becomes complicit in repression.”
that Barrister Ejimakor, who was one of the lawyers that defended Kanu during his trial by the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, made this comment on the micro-blogging site, Twitter.
Identifying the roles of the governors as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of their states, the “Biafran” noted that the governors should not allow the Buhari government to tell them that their indigenes have turned terrorists.
The legal practitioner stated this on his known Twitter handle on Friday.
Ejimakor tweeted: “Any SE Gov who endorses Federal trial of #IPOB members for TERRORISM/treason, allegedly committed within SE, becomes complicit in repression.
“As the CSO of the State, it does not lie with an OUTSIDER to tell you that your indigenes have turned TERRORISTS under your nose. Be wise!”
Quoting the Nigerian constitution, the legal practitioner said: “Relying on Sections 214, 217, 218 & 305 of the Constitution, Southeast leaders can resist the constant deployment of the ARMY in SE.
“The claim that it’s a ‘military exercise’ is FALSE. It’s instead an act of military occupation, geared to suppression of a rising popular dissent,” he tweeted.
