Serious Drama As Catholic Priests 'Strikes out' in Protest over killings
According to Naija news Reports, the Catholic Priests in Enugu state have taken to the streets in the state in a protest against the killings allegedly targeted at them.
Naija News understands that the priests on Friday stormed the roads in the state in their large numbers, armed with leaves and placards of various inscriptions.
The placards the Catholic Priest were carrying, includes inscriptions urging the state government to urgently address the “rising insecurity” in the state.
The Catholic Priests were at the state government house as well as the state police command headquarters where they dropped letters stating their grievances.
While speaking with newsmen in Enugu, the communications director of the diocese, Benjamin Achi, accused herdsmen of being behind the attacks including that of Thursday in which one of the priests was killed.
“The rate of insecurity has gone out of hand and the government should rise to the occasion,” he said.
“The Fulani herdsmen have been killing people repeatedly. The incident yesterday makes it third priest attacked in recent months,” he said.
