JUST-IN: Orji Uzor Kalu Back-downs From Deputy Senate Presidency Race
According to Naija News reports,the former Governor of Abia State, southeast Nigeria, and Senator-elect, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has withdrawn from the race for the position of the Deputy President of the forthcoming 9th Nigerian Senate.
The 9th National Assembly will be inaugurated today, Tuesday, June 11, with Ahmed Lawan representing Yobe North Constituency and Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, both on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, seeking to be the President of the 9th Senate.
Just like the Senate Presidency race, Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia), Francis Alimikhena (Edo), Kabiru Gaya (Kano) and Ovie Omo-Agege (Delta) were in a hot chase for the position of the Deputy President of the 9th Senate until on Tuesday morning when Kalu stepped down.
