Lawsuit filed by Televangelist and Founder of the Synagogue Church, T.B. Joshua and building engineers affiliated with his church, challenging the verdict of a Coroner’s court that found the church negligent in the fatal collapse of a guest house on its premises, was on Monday, clearing way for the trial of Mr. Joshua and the Synagogue church.
TB Joshua suggests sabotage over deadly building collapse
Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court in Lagos turned down the prophet’s request in a ruling delivered today.
The prophet had applied to the court to stop his trial as recommended by a coroner’s court.
A Coroner Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe had determined the Synagogue Church and its contractors were negligent in the fatal collapse of a building that killed 116 people in September 2014.
The Coroner had recommended to the Lagos State Government that the church be tried, but TB Joshua and his church management challenged the findings and recommendation.
Prophet TB Joshua throughout the Coroner’s inquest on the building collapse hired high-powered attorneys to frustrate the inquest and also prevent his appearance as an important witness at the inquest.
