Eye witnesses told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the deceased persons were the driver of the tanker and a welder.

"While the welder was fixing the compartment, the tanker burst into flames and both the driver and the welder sustained severe burns and were rushed to the hospital where they died," an eye witness said.
The FRSC Unit Commander in Funtua, Mr Rabiu Usman, confirmed the incident.
Usman advised tanker drivers to always be cautious with the vehicles, especially when they were loaded with fuel.
