FEDERAL Government, yesterday, warned religious bodies to desist from turning the recent abduction of female students in Chibok, Borno State, into religious matter.
Also, the Nigeria Police Force has issued international red alert for the search and arrest of Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, the alleged suspected mastermind of the Nyanya bomb blast.
The Coordinator of National Information Center on the abduction of Chibok’s abducted girls, Mr Mike Omeri gave the warning, while briefing newsmen on the update on the rescue efforts in Abuja.
Omeri, who is also the Director General of National Orientation Agency, called on the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the Jama’atul Nasril Islam, JNI, to ask their members, to stop making inflamtory statements capable of aggravating the situation on ground.
“The federal government appeals to religious bodies, especially the leadership of both JNI and CAN, to restrain their members from being misled by unscrupulous person into reducing the current situation into a religious conflict,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force said it had issued international red alert on one of the masterminds of the Nyanya bomb blast, who is currently on the run.
Speaking in a joint conference in Abuja, the Spokesperson of the force, Frank Mba said the step became imperative following revelations by other suspects in the custody of the security agency.
Mba said, “Interpol red alert is an international request for corporation, is issued by the interpol general secretariat of national bureau of any of member state.
“Interpol red alert of an international warrant of arrest and consequently it mandates security forces of the190 membership to join in the quest and possible arrest in the interpol red alert.
“We therefore believe with these globe present interpol red alert, interpol will garvernise everything possible world wide to join in the search and possible arrest of Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche.”
The Spokesperson of the Depaqrtment of State Services, DSS, Marilyn Ogar said some suspects in relation to Nyanya bomb blast currently in their custody had made useful statements which would help them.
She said Aminu had been arrested in 2011 over terror related offence, but released on bail to his father, who is a human right activity.
According to her, the sss approached the suspect’s father to produce him, when his name was mentioned by the suspects in their custody, but his father could not.
