Amaechi -Nigeria is capable of repaying loans from China
The minster of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has said during at the 6th Annual East Africa Transport and Infrastructure, that Nigeria is capable of repaying the Chinese loans provided the purpose for which the loans were collected are used efficiently.
As at June 2018, Abuja based debt management office DMO record showed that Nigeria had collected $73million to fund capital expenditure to grow the economy and another $328 Million dollars in September 2018 thereby bringing the sum of its total debt to China at N23trillion
The Minister stated this during at the 6th Annual East Africa Transport and Infrastructure which started yesterday in Nairobi Kenya and billed to end on today.
According to him, “If you don’t go to China, who will give you, America is going to China even Russia what is wrong if Nigeria goes to China so we should not be afraid of China.
“I don’t know the arrangement these countries have with them but I do not think we will have any problems with repaying our loans . The countries that they are talking about are Kenya, Somali and Sudan.
