Aluu 4: Group laments delay in trial of suspects

Society for the Promotion of Better Nigeria, PBN, yesterday, decried the continued closure of the state owned courts, saying it has slowed down the wheel of justice on the brutal murder of four students of the University of Port Harcourt at Aluu, two years ago.

Executive Director of the body, Mr. Livingston Wechie,  in a statement, said it was sad that two years after the murder of the students, justice was still not in sight for families of the deceased.

“It is disturbing that the Aluu 4 incident which is now two years old is still generating losses to the affected families and the society in general particularly since justice is still not in sight two years after four promising youths, Chiadika Biringa, Lloyde Toku Mike, Tekena Elkanah and Ugonna Obuzor, all first sons of their parents  and students of University of Port Harcourt, were gruesomely murdered on October 5, 2012, by their fellow countrymen in what can best be described as ritual killing without any justification.  One question for us all today is: Can there ever be justice for the Aluu 4 when our courts are perpetually shut in Rivers State?

“Thus, the Aluu 4 which is one of the several high profile criminal and public interest cases pending in Port Harcourt High courts, has denied justice to the victims, accused persons and the society in general following the insensitivity of the Judiciary workers in alliance with the Rivers State government in shutting down our courts thus bringing the judiciary to a state of comatose and thereby supporting jungle justice in the land, as Aluu 4 is a pure case of jungle justice,” he said.
