60 suspected insurgents bomb Ekiti prison, free associates

Like a replay of Kotonkarfi, Kogi state, jail break, where Boko Haram members forcefully freed their members, unknown gunmen, Sunday night, attacked the Federal Prisons, Ado Ekiti killing at least one person suspected to be a prison official.

100 killed as Boko Haram hits Yobe, Borno

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents, yesterday, intensified terrorist activities, targeting two state capitals in the North-Eastern part of the country with co-ordinated bomb explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State capital and gun attacks in Damaturu, Yobe State capital.

More than 100 persons were feared dead in the attacks as several places, including police formations, were burnt. Damaturu is 135 km west of Maiduguri.

Data Bank Raid: Court orders DSS to release 5 APC staff

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, ordered the release of five detained staffs of the All Progressives Congress, APC, arrested by operatives of the Department of State Security, DSS.

The detained staffers include Chinedu Atuche, Fayemi Olaposi, Augustine Onuchukwu, Ebun Ilori, and Esther Enemy.

Judge asked to hands-off suit challenging Jonathan’s eligibility

Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has been asked to hands-off the suit challenging the eligibility of President Goodluck Jonathan to seek for re-election in the 2015 general election.

The plaintiffs in the matter Mr. Olatoye Wahab and Adejumo Mansouru Ajagbe urged the Judge to terminate the proceeding before him and refer the constitutional issue to the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal for determination.

Father discharges 4-yr-old son attacked by dogs

Mr. Odia Abraham, father of Master Omonigho Abraham, the four-year-old boy, who sustained extensive injuries following attack by dogs in Igando area of Lagos State, discharged his son from the hospital against medical advice.
